WEAK CFL PICKS FOR WEEK 7

I was on vacation last week, touring around Southern Saskatchewan with its meteorologically schizophrenic weather, so I didn’t actually post my predictions for Week 6.  However, I’m happy to report that I was 4-0.  I’m still on vacation but I thought I should take advantage of my winning streak by posting what is sure to be another perfect slate of predictions.

EDMONTON ESKIMOS at BC LIONS

The British Columbia Lions have done nothing this year but beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders twice.  I could beat the Roughriders twice.  Granted, the BC Lions are playing at home, but with only the cleaning staff and a skeleton concession crew showing up at BC Place for games these days, this is not really a home game for the Lions.  BC Place is more a home away from home for the team these days.  And speaking of BC Place, why is it still called BC Place?  SkyDome turned into Rogers Centre.  Winnipeg has Investors Group Field.  Hamilton has Tim Hortons Field.  Ottawa has TD Place Stadium.  Taylor Field, for chrissakes, Taylor Field turned into Mosaic Stadium (albeit “at Taylor Field”, nevertheless…).  McMahon and Commonwealth have managed to remain sponsor-less, but even the Grey Cup is now the Shaw Grey Cup.  Vancouver is a world-class city.  Why hasn’t it sold out yet?  That’s what world-class cities do.  Given its Pacific Rim location, I vote for something Chinese, like “Sinopec Double Super Grand Canopied Collection Point for Observation of Cultural and Strangely Shaped Pig Ball Sports Events Stadium.”

Anyway, Edmonton has only lost once this season and this game will not be number two.

MONTREAL ALOUETTES at OTTAWA REDBLACKS

Both these teams are lousy.  Not Saskatchewan Roughriders lousy, but lousy nevertheless.  Montreal’s defense will stymie the fragile Ottawa offense, producing a low-scoring (i.e. boring) win for the Alouettes.

SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS at TORONTO ARGONAUTS

I repeat: You’ll never go broke betting against the Riders, especially this season.  Nothing else to see here, folks, move along.

WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS at HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

Apparently the Tiger-Cats do not lose at the aforementioned Tim Hortons Field, so that settles that.
